Founder & Executive Director

Founder and Executive Director

The Ladies Alliance was founded in 2021 by Sonji Davis who recognized the need for a local organization dedicated to helping ladies aging out of the foster care system. Sonji's own personal experiences in the foster care system led her to create an organization that can help other ladies with similar experiences. The hope of our founder is that ladies are given the help and resources to thrive and grow in our ever-changing world.

Our Partners

We are proud to partner with a variety of local organizations to provide the best possible support to our clients. From food banks to healthcare providers, our partners help us extend our reach and impact in the community.

Foster Care Information

The Ladies Alliance is dedicated to empowering communities by providing resources, education, and support to those in need. Many foster children, once they turn 18, have very limited resources and have a difficult time supporting themselves. If they are not reunited with their biological family or allowed to live with their foster family past 18, options of support, unlike their peers is limited and homelessness and crime can become a reality.

  • Over 19,000 children aged out of foster care as recently as 2021. (Annie E. Casey Foundation)
  • Between 31% and 46% of youth exiting foster care will end up homeless by the age of 26. (National Alliance to End Homelessness)
  • Only 1 of every 2 kids in care who age out of the system will have some form of gainful employment by the age of 24. (Social Work Today)
  • Unfortunately, around 50% of children in foster care will deal with the juvenile legal system. (Crim Law Practitioner)
    • Similarly, around 25% of kids in care will deal with the criminal legal system within two years of exiting foster care.
  • 7 out of 10 girls who age out of foster care end up becoming pregnant by 21 years old. (FosterVA)
  • Less than 3% of kids who age out of foster care earn a college degree. (House of Providence)
  • 1 in 4 children who age out of foster care end up experiencing post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). (Sunnybrook)

Additionally, Ladies in foster care face a higher risk of teen pregnancy, drug use, trafficking, and an increased incidence of being a run-away in the care of the foster home. The Ladies Alliance helps to provide tools, support, and resources that help to mitigate risk factors that Ladies might experience.

We believe that everyone deserves access to a better life, and we work tirelessly to make that a reality. Through our programs and partnerships, we strive to create a more equitable and just society for all.
